Classic Pine Pasture Fence – Affordable Tradition in Pressure-Treated Pine
Strong wooden fence with through-post rails
The Classic Pine Pasture Fence is a timeless model that perfectly combines strength, appearance and affordability. Made from pressure-treated pine and fitted with through-post rails and chamfered post heads, it is the ideal fence for horse paddocks, farms, gardens or rural properties.
Pressure-treated pine is naturally weatherproof and durable, so the fence provides years of protection against rain, fungi and insects. The result is a stable, low-maintenance wooden pasture fence that not only looks robust but also performs reliably in every season.
Through-post rails for maximum strength
In this Classic version the rails run through the posts, giving extra stability and a classic look. The system withstands the pressure of horses or livestock and stays firmly in place for years. The chamfered head of the posts prevents water from pooling and so extends the life of the construction.
The whole looks clean, functional and professional — a classic paddock model that suits any terrain.
Available specifications
The Classic Pine Pasture Fence is available in several configurations, so you can fully tailor the system to your project:
Posts
- Lengths: 2.2 m (1.2–1.4 m above ground) or 2.5 m (1.4–1.7 m above ground)
- Thickness: 12×12 (planed 11×11)
- Finish: rough-sawn or planed
- Head shape: chamfered
Rails (planks)
- Number: 2 or 3 rails
- Dimensions: 38×140 mm planed, or 38×150 mm rough-sawn
Thanks to the use of pressure-treated pine, the fence is optimally protected against moisture and rot. The wood keeps its strength and warm colour, while maintenance stays to a minimum. Other dimensions can be produced to order.
Durable and low-maintenance
The high-pressure treatment saturates the wood deep into the core, making it resistant to moisture, fungi and wood-boring insects. You do not need to treat the posts every year – the system is designed to last for years with minimal maintenance.
For extra durability we recommend using Postsavers at the base of the posts. These protective sleeves prevent damage from ground contact and can extend the life of the posts to 20 years or more.
Length per section
For the Classic Pine Pasture Fence, one section measures approximately 2.5 metres between post centres. This is the ideal spacing for a stable, well-supported fence with minimal use of material.
👉 Worked example: A 25-metre fence consists of roughly 10 sections of 2.5 m, each with a start and end post. This makes it easy to calculate how many posts and rails you need based on the total length of your paddock or property.

SolidWoodBuilds also offers matching wooden gates and gate posts in the same pressure-treated pine, so the whole stays visually and technically perfectly matched.
